I really enjoyed OCHEC this year. Karen and I spent most of the time listening to speakers and volunteering, but we did not spend much time looking at the vendors. I am looking forward to getting the recorded mp3s from OCHEC and also to 2011 to see what topics will be there next year.
These are the seminars I listened to
- Ending Discipline Times with Impact
- Hot in the Furnace
- Using the Culture to Teach Worldviews
- What's Next for Homeschooling
- Understanding the Times
- OCHEC Leadership Training which was focused on teen activities in the different OCHEC chapters
- OCHEC Annual Meeting
A lot of the seminars I went to were really informative and we were really impacted by John Stonestreet's Summit ministry that we will be following his ministry, and mayb using some of Summit worldview courses to teach to the kids.
For each seminar we went to we volunteered either as a doorkeeper, or as a timekeeper. This was a good way to help OCHEC, meet some people, and just to serve. I must say that being a doorkeeper was a good experience, and something everyone can do. I just stood at the door, made sure people were wearing their badges, closed the door to the room when the speaker started, and counted the number of people in the room to report the count to the timekeeper. Volunteering in either one of these roles is something all participants should do to help out.
Well, I believe OCHEC 2011 is May 6 to 7, 2011. See you there!!! |
